Wow! I've been really bad about updating this section of the website, but I guess that's just makes it all the sweeter to let you all know that one of my books has been chosen as a finalist for the Lambda Literary Award in Gay Romance. I'm absolutely thrilled. The award ceremony is in June in New York City, and I will definitely be there. There slate of finalists is amazing, so when I say it's an honor just to be nominated, I truly mean it.
January 2021
Happy New Year! I hope everyone is doing well. Just a few things to report. My editing calendar continues to be full. As per the note on my Editor page, if you are interested in hiring me, please contact me as soon as you possibly can. I am usually booked these days for at least a few months from the current date with limited availability at the six-month mark for full manuscript edits. Openings for First Fifty Evals are more plentiful, but still, it's best to contact me as early as you can to guarantee a spot on my calendar. Also, please note, I will be taking October and November of this year off to concentrate on my own writing. In October (fingers crossed) I will be at a writing residency in Homer, Alaska. I was accepted for the 2020 residency season but, for obvious reasons, the residency was postponed to 2021.

Over on my blog, Confessions of a Word Slut, I'm running a series of posts based on my presentation at the LVWC last month. Is It Done Yet? Knowing When Your Manuscript is Ready to Query is based on my work as a developmental/content editor and experiences as a submissions reader and editor for a literary agent. Part I introduces the idea of the fully-realized novel and what that looks like, and Part II talks about knowing your genre. Part III (scheduled for the final week of the month) will focus on the stages of revision from the initial draft to the polished fully-realized version of your novel and the hallmarks of each stage.

It's been a year so far, hasn't it? The Las Vegas Writers Conference at the beginning of the month went virtual. Hats off to the Henderson Writers Group who pretty much pulled off a miracle in getting the event organized and executed two weeks after the country started to go into lockdown. I had a great time presenting two sessions: Writing Desire - Lessons on an Essential Element of Craft Learned from Romance, and Is It Done Yet - Knowing When Your Manuscript is Ready to Query. In addition, I participated in a first page critique session and one-on-one consults. Then turned around the next week and did a podcast interview about editing with the And I Thought Ladies who asked me to participate in their one-day Get It Done virtual conference where I talked about creating dynamic opening pages for your novel. Writing and editing are both going well in the midst of chaos. I hope everyone is keeping safe and staying healthy.

November 2019
It's been a busy year. Lots of travel and lots of writing. Finished up BookEnds and am planning to finish the WIP by the end of the year. I will be on faculty at the Las Vegas Writers Conference in April, 2020. More details to follow. Currently booking full manuscripts for after the first of the year, but have room on the calendar for more First 50s and coaching clients.
June 2019
Into the home stretch on BookEnds and writing like a fiend.
February 2019
Busy, busy, busy with both editing and novel writing, as well as applying for residencies for fall of this year.
I will be offering another First Fifty Package through Authors for Families in their April auction.
January 2019
The Authors for Families auction is now over. My First Fifty Eval Package and Full Mss Edit raised approximately 25% of the total monies donated during this auction. I'm thrilled to have been a part of it and looking forward to the next one. Will let you all know when that happens.
December 2018
If you are interested in working with me, but the price tag for a manuscript edit is a bit out of reach, there is an opportunity in January to work with me at a reduced price and help raise money to reunite families separated at the border.
Authors for Families is a literary auction taking place online between January 1st and 31st. I am offering a full manuscript edit as well as a First Fifty Package. There are several editorial offerings as well as book club visits, website design, ARC's, and signed copies of books.
